For many educators, lead by walking, be visible, and teach like your hair’s on fire exemplify the leadership qualities necessary to perform their duties for the betterment of their school, community, and students. For teachers who have been diagnosed with MS, these leadership qualities are obscured by the fear of knowing the unpredictability of their disease; knowing that one day, they will not be able to fulfill their duties to the best of their abilities.
The development and implementation of a Disability Playbook, by the school districts, would provide effective strategies to accommodate qualified educators with MS, thereby alleviating their fears. |
